How to Insulate a heating pipe

To make significant savings by avoiding the excessive heat loss, you must isolate your piping installation. There are different models of girdles that can implement this project quickly and easily.

The insulated heating pipes are available in different materials (rubber, polyethylene, polyolefin or mineral wool) and many sizes. The rigid sleeves are suitable for straight sections. The strips are flexible to be wound more suitable for hard to access and to isolate the elbows.

Heating pipe insulation: before installing

Prepare your piping installation before installing insulation . Clean and remove dust and verify the installation, on occasion, you do not leak.

If necessary, treat the rust deposits greenish or brush with a brass wire brush.

Insulated piping: installation

Pipe Insulation: insulate Tees

At one branch, three pipes meet on the same connection. The ends of the three sleeves concerned must be cut at an angle so that the insulation is continuous, without leaving any free space. Thus, the two sleeves vis-à-vis are cut into "whistle" and the third is perpendicular to V. If the adjustment is imprecise, wrap it with tape.

Another solution is to wrap the joint in a flexible insulating tape.

Introduce the insulation to your hose to take the steps between each collar. Cut the casing by adding 1 cm margin added . Notch the end of a stroke cutter so that it can snap on the collar. So your sleeve covers your hose clamps and will better insulation throughout.
