Seals stickers
Rectangular section seals compressible foam polyurethane or PVC high density are specially adapted for heat insulation . They can fill voids 1 to 7 mm .
Rubber seals are better suited to acoustic and thermal insulation. Depending on the profile (E, P, V. ..), they can fill spaces 2 to 5 mm.
Dust then degrease with alcohol to burn the rabbet of the door frame or window. Pull down the seal and apply it to removing As the protective paper from the adhesive side. The cuts are easily made with a cutter.
Seals nailing
Pre-drilled metal models (V-shaped) are valued for their excellent durability . Able to fill irregular intervals of 6 mm max, they are effective against the cold, rain, wind and retain their shape even after several years of use.
The beads of felt or foam-wrapped PVC are designed to seal important days, up to 20 mm. Waterproof and washable, they are however not very aesthetic.
Before nailing a metal gasket, locate each length to hang and cut it with wire cutters or snips. Electroplate good seal at the bottom of the rebate as nailing.
Molded joint
The caulking accommodates irregular days. More technically practical, it requires the use of a tape stripping. As for joints to be bonded, the surfaces must be posed carefully cleaned and dried well .
Start by applying a primer to the rabbet of the frame to ensure adhesion of the seal. Then extrude a bead of silicone sealant and regular cover it with tape stripping. Then close the door or window to form the joint by bridging existing gaps.
Let dry at least 24 hours before removing the tape stripping. If the putty sticks to it, let it dry more.
At the bottom of doors
The simplest solution is the flange nailing or stapling , but soon turns to dust in the nest. More convenient to use and also more discreet, bars insulated aluminum or PVC are suitable for standard door widths (83 or 93 cm).
They include as appropriate a brush or seal semi-rigid and are fixed by gluing or screwing. The seals are suitable for tile while the brushes are quite suitable for parquet and laminate.
The bars are the most sophisticated articulated. The movable part pivotally lifts to open the door (not to rub on the ground) and falls when it is closed.
When fixing, ensure that the seal or brush lightly crashed to the ground. Mark the position, then place two or three screws to hold the bar. After checking it prevents air from passing well, fix it permanently.
