Fix an object on a plasterboard wall (or plasterboard)?

Wall frame, mirror, shelf, radiator, TV, etc.. Or water heater, a wall of plasterboard can support different objects, even heavy, provided you use custom fasteners for their weight and nature of material. Make the right choice.

How much weight should bear the plasterboard (or plasterboard)?

The weight of the object and its size determine the type and number of fixations to predict.

Before attaching the object to the wall , here are the questions you need to choose your answer hooking system:
- What type of object you want to hang?
- In which room should you hang the object?
- What is the weight of the object?

Indeed, a parameter, less obvious to assess, on the tensile strength and / or shear. To choose the best, it is easier to rely solely on the notion of weight.

- Generally are considered light an object not exceeding 10 kg ;

- Up to 25-30 kg , we talk about average load ;

- Beyond 30 kg , it comes to heavy load .

Note: secure attachment must withstand all stresses imposed on the object. If you exceed the allowable load, fixing torn off or broken. But you can very well double in order to spread the load and hook and a greater weight.

What setting you choose?

Although it is not specifically intended for the plasterboard, the hook "X" can support up to 5 kg .You choose one, two or three points depending on the weight of the object (etching, mirror, table, etc..) Asking.

For loads limited to 10 kg , you can choose between several types of plastic anchors: Nailing anchor screw:

- First used without pre-drilling and provide a direct blockade by departing;

- The second has two wings which expand to screw behind the wall;

- The third are screwed and anchored directly into the plasterboard with their external thread.

For medium loads, there are:

- The metal pins drywall featuring a wing tip;

- The anchors (type or Molly Fischer) for use with special pliers;

- The ankle rocker and spring, the latter can also work for hanging a light fixture to a ceiling plasterboard.

Beyond 25-30 kg (fixtures, furniture, kitchen ...), it is necessary to use anchors for heavy loads and to integrate a wall reinforcement in wood or metal. You'll have to screw the two supporting elements of the panel: this should be thought of in a construction phase, in which you can incorporate elements behind the drywall. So you transfer the load of the object on the substructure and you avoid damaging the drywall (or plasterboard).

Some anchors are provided with a screw origin. For others, you must use a screw (wood screw type), a hook threaded diameter adapted.
The screws must be adapted to the ankle . It should be as large or slightly longer for a better setting.

Furthermore, in a hollow or brittle material, the diameter of the hole you'll drill should be slightly lower than the ankle.

The ankle Molly materials for plaster and hollow is the star of the plasterboard walls. When the fixed to the wall, it folds like an umbrella, which allows him to have a very good grip in the wall: the object will thus become one with the plasterboard.
Molly ankles come in different widths and lengths. Is the weight of the object to hang on the wall will determine the size and breadth of the ankle. It comes with screws and anchors her with a gun or pneumatic clamp . It is in our opinion the best way to attach an object to a gypsum board.
