Ask a curtain rod

Installing a curtain rod obeys the same principle, whatever the model. The main (small) problem is to define the proper length of rod and selecting media appropriate to the type of installation: Wall, between walls (opening), the ceiling.

Fixed or sliding?

The round bar is very attractive. Wood, brass, wrought iron ... you can spice it up with decorative tips of different styles and assorted media. The curtains are hung by rings or loops of fabric.

Practice, the traverse rod is metal (steel, aluminum, natural or color) or PVC. Profiled as a rail, it includes carts on which the hooks attach curtains or sheers. They are actuated with a pull cord or rod.

Set location

In a recess, the rod model is used as the round bar. You can put it between the boards (the sides) or under the lintel, if you have a high enough not to hinder the opening of the window.

In the first case, the length of rod should match the width of the recess unless the thickness of the bracket. In the second case, it must be shorter than 4 cm in order to follow its decorative finials.

Poses for a bracket on the wall, all models agree. It is advisable to boil over 20 to 30 cm on each side of the window . Above, you must have at least 5 cm (15 to 20 cm ideally) not to obstruct the opening. Even if the thing is fixing the ceiling.

Note : Each installation method is a specific media type, wall or ceiling: Choose well!

Attach brackets

Wall or ceiling, mark the ends of the strip ensuring its proper alignment and balance out the excess on both sides of the window. Introduce the first medium to 5 or 10 cm from the same brand, depending on whether a model railway or a bar, and find his holes.

For drilling, use a tool (hammer drill or drill) adapted to the hardness of the masonry.Equip it with a drill the same diameter as the dowels to ask: for solid or hollow walls.

After plugged and screwed the first bracket, put the rod in place by adjusting the horizontal level bubble. While holding it in position, introduce the second bracket to the desired location and locate points of attachment. Drill, plug and attach it as the first.

The rod path simply snaps on its supports. If you ask a round bar, remember to put the rings on it before placing it permanently. If installation takes place between tables (or wall to wall), position the attachment plates opposite, perfectly level and at the same distance from the window. Soffit, place the media at 3 cm from the sides.

If you have arranged curtain tiebacks, fix their stands about 90 inches from the baseboard.
