Once worn, broken or outdated, some equipment such as furniture become cumbersome.Especially since these occasional waste, because of their size, are not collected as part of the traditional collection. A special collection for bulky exists however.

What to do with its bulky waste?

Several options are available:

Home collection

For the home collection , you can choose a merchant who takes your goods used equipment.

When you purchase a mattress, a mattress or a new appliance, look for merchants that take over the old articles. These collections by distributors thereby avoiding the waste disposal sites or removing the door to door. 

The municipalities must also make available to their citizens the means of collection of bulky waste.

Collecting door-to-door

For collecting door-to-door in town and sometimes in villages, free collections are implemented periodically or on demand (for mayor). This type of collection is very convenient for elderly and disabled.

NB : the method of collection of waste differs from place to place, so ask in each case at your local authority. For example, in Paris, you must report your bulky items by calling the Call Centre 39 75 (cost of a local call from a landline), or make an appointment directly on the site Internet Town Hall .

For collection on assembly points , for a few days and at fixed periods, municipalities have dumpsters or disposal sites.

NB : Information about collections, door-to-door collections on assembly points are passed by municipalities by means of posters or ads in municipal newsletters. But you also have the opportunity to directly request by calling the town hall.

The rubbish collection , you can submit your free casual waste in waste collection and bulky waste mainly. There are over 3,000 waste collection spread over the hexagon .

Furniture, appliances, hardware and printer cartridges are particularly welcome.

Bulky allowed

- Vegetable waste from gardens (lawn clippings bagged and small branches tied; 
- Waste from DIY home (doors, windows, kitchen equipment and bathroom, flooring, wall, ceiling ...);
- Large objects can not return to the trash (bedding, furniture, bicycles, packaging, etc.)..

Examples of bulky items: bed frame, furniture, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, shelves, heaters, televisions, printers, carpets, scale, toys, etc.. 

Bulky unauthorized

- Household hazardous waste (motor oil, cooking oil, tires, batteries ...) deposit in waste; 
- Household appliances, electrical appliances and electronic waste collection or drop in to take your supplier; 
- Earth, debris, rubble, asbestos cement, to deposit in waste; 
- Waste to take care by health professionals; 
- Refrigerators, freezers, to deposit in waste or to resume your supplier; 
- Paint cans.

You live in a big city?

Your mayor has perhaps a web service recording requests from individuals . You must then establish the number of items you want to dispose (it is often limited to 5, but it really depends on their volume).

If your city does not have internet platform cumbersome registration, you must join by phone your local council to make appointments and alert them to carry objects. You will be asked to put labels on each item noting your name and phone number provided by the municipality.

Once the steps taken to report your waste, you must leave your bulky front of your homebetween 06h and 08h for a kidnapping in the morning, or between 12h and 14h for kidnapping the same afternoon.

NB : In some cities, you can schedule a pick object up to one month in advance.

You live in a small town or village?

In general, bulky are removed once a month . You must include your Hall for dates and locations.

But you can also make an appointment for a pickup at home, provided you take in advance.

NB : In all cases, waste must be packaged to facilitate collection. They must be handled, lifted, transported and loaded by 2 people.
