Solar heating for all regions
Even if the sun is longer and more intense in the southern regions, it is quite possible to install a solar heating in northern France. A solar heating system can cover 52% of the energy consumption of a house in Marseille (9300 kWh). It saves 4830 kWh. According to ADEME (Agency for Environment and Energy Management), the same facility located in a house identical to Strasbourg covers "only" 30% of needs (16,300 kWh). The economy is yet to 4890 kWh.Solar heating: how does it work?
A combined solar heating system includes:- Solar thermal collectors;
- A distribution network of pipes similar to that used in conventional systems;
- One (or more) device (s) of thermal energy storage (surge drum, concrete slab);
- Issuers of heat (low temperature radiators, panel heater, etc.).
- A regulation.
An auxiliary heater can take over if there is not enough sun. It can be totally independent of the installation of solar heating: fireplace, wood stove, electric heaters ... If it is coupled to control it can manage the startup and shutdown of the booster. Everything is done according to the sunshine and the demand for heating or hot water. It then uses a conventional boiler (oil, gas, wood, electric).
