Treat humidity of the house to find the cause
Before beginning treatment of moisture, you must find the cause. Several possibilities exist:
- Condensation (generating steam due to inadequate ventilation);
- Infiltration (bad sealing roofs, walls, piping ...);
- Capillary rise (ground water back into the walls);
- A leak in the pipes (check your water meter while running all faucets, including those in toilet flushing, are closed).

Humidity treatment: air
Treatment of moisture condensation is the simplest. Ventilate and insulate the cold walls. Insulate your walls if that is not enough.
Treatment of moisture infiltration cons
If the humidity of the house is due to infiltration of rain water, first check the condition of your roof. Remove the foam and apply treatment if necessary against moisture proofing. Check the condition of gutters and apply a special sealant or gutter sealing tape. Silicone Caulk joints where doors and windows are no longer effective. Also inspect your exterior walls. Clean them and apply waterproof seal in cracks as moisture treatment.
Humidity of the house: pipe leak
Your water meter is running while all the water inlets are adopted? You may have a leak in pipeline. If the pipe is in the ground or a wall (or embedded in a form) the treatment of moisture is simple. Find the leak, isolate it, and eventually realize a bypass pipeline. If your slab or wall have been greatly dampened, find a healthy environment will take time.
Humidity treatment against rising damp
It is the treatment of moisture most difficult to implement. It often concerns older homes. We need to create a watertight seal under the house.
