Installation and connection of a circuit breaker

GFCI: protects the circuitry to prevent overheating in high demand; protects people by cutting the power in case of anomaly. The effectiveness of a circuit breaker depends on its sensitivity.

RCD: What's this?

Choosing the right breaker
This module is implemented in the table at the start of the installation or electrical circuits. It continuously monitors the amount of electricity that enters the house and that comes through. These two values must be equal.

If it finds a difference, if there is less power output, then there is a leak: it fires instantly cut the power . Its sensitivity, the threshold at which it determines that the difference is an anomaly, is variable. For example, it is 500 mA (milliamp) for the breaker subscriber asked by your energy supplier. This value is too high to protect users.

That's why the table has other circuit breakers, high sensitivity, only 30 mA. Note that there are also switches. They do not provide protection against overloads and control only a single circuit while a circuit breaker can protect many. Simply choose a caliber.

Before connecting the GFCI

Look at your table allocation. Raise brand elements installed to give you the same.Disconnect power: Turn the power switch "off." Check for power before working on your GFCI. Lift and remove the protective cover from the electrical panel. Start connecting the circuit breaker.

Connecting the circuit breaker

Insert the circuit breaker on the rail. Connect the input of the other modules, so it's the first element of general electrical panel.
